Ellesmere Port & Neston Fundraising Event

 

Ellesmere Port & Neston Special Olympics group (Registered charity number 800329), the group aims to provide sports training and competition in a variety of sports for people with a learning disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate achievement, experience enjoyment and participate with other Special Olympic athletes and the community.  Next year we as group are hoping to take a group of our athletes to the Special Olympics National Games held in Leicester.  The athletes will represent a variety of sports and as volunteers assisting the athletes we feel this would be an opportunity of a lifetime for each and every athlete.  This would also be a fantastic opportunity for both athletes and coaches to experience this event as a unit and hopefully share in some well-earned success. 

The group relies heavily on the support of a dedicated committee of volunteers to help raise much-needed funds for the group to support the development of activity for athletes.

As part of our fundraising activity we are arranging an awards evening, at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall on 25th July 2008. 

The aim of the evening to;
- Showcase the development of athletes in the lead up to the Special Olympics National Games in Leicester.
- Acknowledge the achievements of athletes in various sports and activities.
- Raise funds for the Special Olympics group to offer subsidised support to athletes in their chosen sport when entering the National Games next year. 
- Promote and publicise the group to potential athletes and sponsors.

The evening will comprise of a fun quiz, tombola, Disco, refreshments, raffle and a short presentation of awards.  We are therefore asking if you would consider donating an item or package that we could offer as a prize to raffle off at our charity event. All proceeds from this will go directly to Ellesmere Port & Neston Special Olympics group to enable athletes to represent our group in the National Games next summer.  This money will help subsidise the cost of entry for the potential athletes.

All the money that we raise really does make a difference and if you are able to support the group through our awards evening, we would very much appreciate it.  Your support will really make a difference. I have enclosed our group leaflet which gives a short explanation into the activities our athletes undertake and just some of their achievements to date.  Hopefully with your help and support there will be more successes to detail next year.
