Equity

England Netball is committed to ensuring netball is fair, equitable and accessible. As part of that commitment England Netball is working towards achieving the Equality Standard for Sport.
The first ever equality Standard for Sport was launched in November 2004. It is "a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from under representative individuals, groups and communities, especially women and girls, ethnic minority groups and disabled people." The Standard provides assistance in the development of structures and processes, helps us to assess our performance and ensures continuous improvement.
Paul Clarke, England Netball’s Chief Executive has overall responsibility in ensuring that a policy of equality is implemented across our sport.
"An Equal Opportunities and Equity Policy is critical to Netball in order to ensure our sport is open to all those who want to take part. England Netball is committed to developing our products and services and working with our members, our prospective members and our partners to make Netball a sport that is safe, enjoyable and accessible to everyone".
England Netball has developed an Equal Opportunities and Equity Policy which has been approved by the Board of Directors.

The intent of the policy is as follows:

England Netball is fully committed to the principles of equality of opportunity and is responsible for ensuring that no job applicant, employee, volunteer or registered participant receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, language, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, pregnancy, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference, gender reassignment or political belief.

The policy also covers other important information in the following areas:

  • Statement of Intent
  • Definitions
  • Purpose of the Policy
  • Actions
  • Legal Requirements
  • Discrimination, harassment and victimisation
  • Responsibility, implementation and communication
