Safeguarding Young People
England Netball has been reviewing its policy and procedures in relation to the welfare and protection of young people in netball in line with updated legislation and national guidelines.
England Netball is firmly committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for all young people to play netball. It accepts its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all young people and protect them from poor practice, abuse and bullying.
With this in mind, England Netball has developed a new Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Netball Policy, Procedures and Guidelines that will apply to all individuals involved, paid or in a voluntary capacity in Netball and will be phased in over time.
England Netball recognises that everyone has a responsibility to safeguard and protect all young people.
Safeguarding and Protecting Guidelines
To support the Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Netball, a number of guidelines have been developed to provide all netball organisations with the tools to ensure all participants are involved in best practice.
Departure for Culture Media and Sport have in conjunction with Sport England, NSPCC (Child Protection in Sport Unit) and Department for Children, Schools and Families have produced a new child protection leaflet aimed at parents. Parents are encouraged to ask the appropriate questions when considering a sport/club for their children eg Does the club have a Child Protection Policy? Does the club do Criminal Record Bureau checks? Is the Club Accredited?
