Warm Up Match, England v AIS (Australian Institute of Sport)
Four days into the trip to Singapore and the England team had their first taste of competitive action today as they enjoyed a warm up match against the Australian AIS side. This is a team made up of some of the most promising up and coming talent from the Diamonds system.

Warm Up Match, England v Fiji
As the opening ceremony draws ever nearer and England’s shot at the world title beckons, there was time for one more warm-up match, our opposition this time around, Fiji. Sue Hawkins went with a starting seven of Sonia Mkoloma,Eboni Beckford-Chambers, Geva Mentor, Jade Clarke, Karen Atkinson, Tamsin Greenway, Pamela Cookey and Joanne Harten.

Pool D Match 4.7.11, England v Malawi
The opening encounter for the 2011 World Championships for England was against risky opposition in the form of Malawi. Having seen Jamaica, Australia and New Zealand rack up some early big wins it was important for the England side to make their own statement of intent. Sue Hawkins has previously mentioned that The Queens represent our biggest challenge in the group stage and it would be important for the team to come out strong from the start. This is exactly what happened. After a slightly cagey opening, there were signs of good movement and fluent passing moves as England raced into a lead.

Pool D Match 5.7.11, England v Barbados
If you are one for an expression, how about ‘You are only as good as your last performance’? If this was to be taken seriously then the last performance Barbados provided against England signalled that today’s match would be a comfortable victory with a large winning margin. It was not.Once again England frustrated their followers as they mixed world class netball with basic mistakes. The record book will reveal a 74 – 42 score in favour of Sue Hawkins’ team and two wins from their two matches but an improvement in consistency is definitely required if we are to conquer these Championships.

Pool D Match 6.7.11, England v Malaysia
Quality netball for four quarters was the request and that is exactly what England delivered today. Having shown their class in patches throughout the opening two games of this World Championships, England now showed that they could keep the momentum going with a crushing 95 – 22 victory over Malaysia.

Quarter Final 7.7.11, England v Northern Ireland
England produced arguably the performance of the competition so far in what proved to be an absolute demolition of Northern Ireland. The expectation was for Sue Hawkins’ side to progress but to do it with such aplomb against a valiant Irish side was to be admired. At the final whistle a semi-final place had been booked with a crushing 87 – 16 win

Semi Final 9.7.11, England v New Zealand
This was the moment that our squad had trained four years for, this was the best chance in recent memory for England to reach a World Championships Final, this was it. Unfortunately, the last obstacle to overcome happened to be in the form of the reigning Commonwealth Games Champions and world number 1, New Zealand. As the score line suggests, 49 – 34, England were outplayed.
