What we say:
A fantastic bit of wheeling and dealing has seen the arrival of Pamela Cookey from TeamBath and she should make a formidable partnership with fellow England hooter Rachel Dunn in the attacking circle. New Head Coach/player Tamsin Greenway gets her chance to complete the international trio but it will be interesting to see how the creative and passionate mid-courter balances her two roles. A disappointing performance in the Grand Final can be quickly forgotten with a fast start to the campaign and the chance to exact revenge in the opening fixture. Storm look odds on to have a better campaign with the acquisition of Cookey and many are expecting them to safely qualify for the Superleague Showdown weekend.
What they say:
Head Coach Tamsin Greenway: “We have big expectations at Surrey Storm for the upcoming season. After narrowly missing out on the Superleague title last year we will be looking to go one better in 2012. We are thrilled to announce the signing of England International Pamela Cookey to our squad and we really feel she will be that missing link in the GA position. Her experience and the quality of play she will bring to the team is invaluable. In the shooting circle she will partner Rachel Dunn, who will once again be a force to be reckoned with under the posts. As well as experience we will be looking to our younger players to step up and make a name for themselves. Katy Holland was impressive last year and we hope she will go from strength to strength in the defensive end.”
