Couch To Court is a hit

Our Couch To Court campaign has started with a bang, as more than 2,219 people have become members since the campaign started over a month ago, plus 700 women have signed up to receive additional communications about the initiative.

The concept was introduced in a bid to help battle inactivity amongst women and to encourage at least 4,000 people to step on a netball court or to become an official England Netball member before the end of February, meaning more people can enjoy the social and physical benefits the sport has to offer. We are delighted to say that we have reached more than half of our target with a month still to go.

Couch To Court does what it suggests, it guides and encourages people to move from the couch to the netball court. It is perfect for those that are unsure about jumping into netball straight away or want to find out more about their nearest session or club.

The campaign enables anybody to simply sign up to the initiative here and after doing so gives them guidance and support via email to help overcome any nerves and feel prepared to get on a court near them. The Couch To Court web pages also provide details of all netball clubs and approved netball sessions across the country, many of which will be tailored perfectly for beginners who haven’t played for a very long time, making it really easy to find something local.

Clubs all over the country have seen a huge influx of participants at their Couch To Court beginner sessions this month and the interest seems to be increasing.

To make it even more appealing to sign up to Couch To Court, we also entered anyone who took part in an England Netball session or who became an England Netball member into a prize draw to win some exciting money can’t buy prizes.

The prizes included courtside seats at the sold out final day of the Vitality Netball Nations Cup on 26 January in London, plus VIP hospitality, a chance to meet some of our Vitality Roses’ and exclusive signed merchandise.

The winner of these highly sought after prizes was junior netballer Sophie Odell who signed up to become an England Netball member in January. Sophie enjoyed the experience alongside her mother Elizabeth and best friend Arabelle.

Elizabeth commented: “We had the most amazing day at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup. The girls and I had a fantastic time and we were all looked after so well. Sophie is over the moon with all of the signed bits she got and has already taken them into school to show all her friends. She will be wearing her new England hoodie with pride at netball training on Saturdays too!”

If you want to win a courtside experience as well then there’s still time because we are also offering the same unique prizes for one lucky Couch To Court participant at the highly anticipated Vitality Netball Superleague Season Opener on 22 February at Arena Birmingham. For your chance to win simply join England Netball as a member or attend an England Netball session before 5pm on 10th February 2020. Find out more here.

Further information about the Season Opener event in February, which will feature 10 Vitality Netball Superleague teams competing under one roof, can be found here.
