England Netball celebrates Earth Day 2025

22 April 2025 marks the 55th anniversary of Earth Day – a global event which highlights environmental awareness and encourages meaningful activism.

As part of our ‘Consciously Sustainable’ commitment to reduce our environmental impact, England Netball is proud to be a Planet Mark certified business.

Being Planet Mark certified means we’ve officially started our journey to become a carbon neutral sport at a time when protecting our planet matters more than ever.

For the past two years, we’ve been measuring our carbon footprint with Planet Mark as part of our commitment to make netball more sustainable because to cut our carbon emissions in a meaningful way, we need to understand exactly where they come from. That’s why we’re committed to tracking more of our carbon footprint each year.

As a Planet Mark certified organisation, we’re working towards measuring the impact of everything we do across all areas of our sport so we can set clear targets and work towards an ambitious goal: cutting our total carbon emissions by 90% across all areas (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions).

Being Planet Mark certified also means we’ve pledged to reduce our direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by at least 5% every year. From year three onwards, we’re also committed to hitting minimum data quality standards to ensure our measurements are accurate and robust.

We’ll be sharing our progress as we move through Planet Mark’s Net Zero Certification Programme. Take a look at our latest Planet Mark emissions report for 2023/24to see how we’re doing so far.

We’re also proud to work with partners who share our values and are taking their own meaningful steps to protect the planet – click into the dropdown menu below to find out more.

We are committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050 or earlier.

Reducing carbon emissions, since 2022 we have:

  • Decreased our office space by 15%
  • Re-used and re-purposed over 70% of the furniture, with the rest either recycled or donated to charity
  • Created an environmentally friendly workspace with over 2000 live plants
  • Sourced – and continue to source – almost all of our electricity from renewable sources
  • Transitioned the fleet of cars driven by our Vitality nurses to hybrid electric vehicles
  • Run car-pooling schemes
  • Had ‘Green Champions’ – individuals across the business who regularly share their sustainability stories through our internal communications channels

“At Superdrug Online Doctor, we are dedicated to making healthcare more accessible across the UK. By combining medical expertise with digital innovation, we provide safe, convenient access to trusted treatments and professional advice. Supporting patients in managing their health effectively is not just our commitment, it’s our responsibility, and there is no greater reward than making a positive impact on people’s lives.” from Dr Babak Ashrafi, Clinical Lead for Service Development.

Superdrug are also committed to ensuring we make it as easy as possible for customers to recycle their tablet packs from Online Doctor with our instore recycling programme. Last year we recycled 79.5 tonnes, the equivalent weight of a Boeing 737!

Trees4Travel

EK offer tree plantings in lieu of travel and the subsequent CO2 emissions that come with this through Trees4Travel – view the CO2 Calculator.

Each tree planted through Trees4Travel is accompanied by an investment in United Nations Certified Emission Reduction Carbon Credits.

From May 2023 to the latest reporting ending February 2025, the above programs have resulted in a total of 103,584 tree plantings throughout the world.

Fill It Forward

To encourage reusable water container adoption and reduce plastic waste, Experience Kissimmee has partnered with Fill it Forward to incentivise and track water refills within the office.

Each refill is logged and results in a charitable contribution to the organisation’s annual non-profit support.

Since launching in December 2024, this program has resulted in 936 refills, 28 pounds of waste diverted, 529kWh of power saved, 907 pounds of emissions saved, and 5 pounds of ocean pollution prevented.

By the end of September 2025, it is estimated that the program will also result in $500 donated to the Healthy Start Coalition of Osceola County.

  • Moved to a paperless company
  • Reduced company fleet size by 25% and foreign travel by 88%
  • Gilbert partnership with Envyro, which works to increase the use of sustainable materials such as recycled plastics in the clothing, and producing recyclable and re-usable bags
  • Grays plants three willow tress for every one felled
  • Plant 6,000 new tress each year
  • All left over wood materials are sent locally to be used in the production of bio fuel
  • New production methods and improved factory processes

Disposable pads and tampons are a nightmare for the planet.

Take a look at our Instagram post shining a spotlight on conventional period care and how it pollutes the planet: https://www.instagram.com/p/DBelLUXtnQT/?igsh=cXZ1cjdxczdwM254.

Period pants, on the other hand, are a reusable, sustainable option. Here’s why switching to period pants is a step toward a greener, more eco-friendly period:

  • They reduce period care waste
  • They mean less plastic in the ocean
  • They use less water overall
  • There’s no toxic chemicals (in NIXIs, anyway!)

At Physique, we have made progress in recent years when it comes to being more environmentally minded as a company.

Many of our products are more eco-friendly or good alternatives to single use items such as our Physique and Tiger Tapes Eco Water Bottles which are not only refillable and recyclable, but made from bio-based plastic, which produces considerably less CO2 than traditional plastic. Our best-selling 40m Hygiene Paper Towel Roll is made from 100% recycled material. We also have alternatives to ice packs that have single-use plastic bags, such as our reusable hot & cold packs or rubberised ice bags.

We work with suppliers to reduce the use of plastic in packaging where possible, such as such as Songbird’s reinforced cardboard tubs for their massage waxes which are recyclable and biodegradable.

There are, of course, recycling bins around the office and we make good use of these, but we also take extra steps to recycle or reuse where we can. For example, we recycle some of our old cardboard boxes and turn them into packing materials for orders.

In 2021, we moved to a newer, more eco-efficient building which, among other things, features lights activated by sensors. This reduces the amount of electricity used by automatically turning off lights when a room is unoccupied.

While we have made steps to be more eco-friendly as a company, we acknowledge that there is always more that can be done. Our aim is to keep moving in a more eco and sustainable direction wherever possible.

At DYNAMIK Sports Flooring, we are dedicated to providing high-quality sports flooring solutions while upholding the highest standards of sustainability. Our products comply with internationally recognised certifications, including FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), and BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method). Additionally, we integrate product recycling into our gym tiles and accessories to further reduce environmental impact.

FSC & PEFC Certified Sports Flooring

We ensure that our timber-based sports flooring systems are sourced from responsibly managed forests. Both FSC and PEFC certifications guarantee that the wood used in our products supports sustainable forestry, protecting biodiversity and reducing deforestation.

Product Recycling in Gym Tiles & Accessories

Sustainability extends beyond sourcing materials; it includes responsible end-of-life product management. Our gym tiles and accessories incorporate recycled rubber and other sustainable materials to reduce waste and promote circular economy principles. By reprocessing and repurposing materials, we minimise landfill waste and lower the carbon footprint of our products.

At DYNAMIK, we believe that sustainability and performance go hand in hand. By adhering to the highest environmental standards and embracing recycling innovations, we continue to deliver top-tier sports flooring solutions that support a greener future.

At Rayburn Tours, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and working with our employees, partners, and communities to create a more sustainable future. Our goal is to ensure that we can continue to provide amazing travel experiences while protecting the planet for future generations.
