Satellite clubs, mainly based on school or college sites, are outposts of existing community sports clubs. The purpose of the clubs are to bridge the gap between school, college and community sport by creating strong links to an existing community netball club and to provide new opportunities for young people to play netball in the community.
England Netball are supporting the development of new satellite clubs aimed at 14-19 year olds. These sessions run on a turn up and play basis not requiring any club membership and are designed to give girls their first taste of community netball without having to make a commitment to a club for a whole season.
The sessions are led by existing club coaches from the club supporting the satellite. Girls then have the opportunity to join the main club if they want to.
Speak to your local Netball Development Officer or County Sports Partnership for local opportunities.
