Bio

Amy Carter’s career in netball so far has been built in the North of England. Carter joined her first netball club aged 10 and moved to Tameside Netball Club in her mid-teens.

As a teenager, Carter burst onto the netball scene for both country and club, making her name in the black and yellow dress of Manchester Thunder. Carter made her debut in the Netball Super League in 2018. Domestic success soon came for the dynamic midcourter, as she achieved several Player of the Match accolades in her debut season and went on to be part of the 2019 league-winning squad.

In 2021, Amy suffered an ACL rupture, causing her to miss the 2022 domestic and international season, but has returned to play stronger than ever and with a renewed sense of perspective.

“In some ways I see it as a silver lining. So many people come back from ACLs and are better players. It’s only when you step back that you realise how much you really do enjoy it”.

Returning to court mid-November 2022, she sprung back onto the domestic scene, playing a crucial role in the Manchester Thunder set-up and being named captain ahead of the 2025 season.

In the international space, Carter has featured prominently in the England youth set-up. She has featured in several U19 and U21 squads, as well as competing in Europe Netball competitions. Carter has played for England A against several nations and made her senior Vitality Roses debut at the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in 2020.

Carter balances her netball with her job as a doctor and she is set to finish her foundation year training in 2025 after studying medicine at the University of Manchester.
