Setting up and Managing a ENgage league website

As one of the privileges that come with being an England Netball registered league you can set-up a customisable league website! It’s simple and easy to use meaning you don’t need any technical expertise.

The easy to follow FAQs below, will support you in achieving the look and feel that you want on your website!

Firstly, the league bank details are required to be entered in ENgage. If they are not, please view this guidance.

Then either the ENgage assigned league chair, secretary, treasurer or vice chair needs to follow these instructions:

  1. Log into ENgage on a laptop or computer device
  2. In the ‘My Organisations’ box, select the thumbnail next to your organization’s name
  3. Click ‘Organisation Profile’
  4. Select ‘Edit’
  5. Enter the ‘Email’ and ‘Primary contact’ fields are entered (if not already entered)
  6. Select the floppy disk
  7. Click the 9 squares at the top left hand corner
  8. Click ‘Finance’
  9. Select ‘Website Setup’ in the left-hand side menu
  10. Enter your wanted league subdomain in the ‘Website Subdomain’ field (Alternatively if you already have your own website domain, you can use this with our sites*)
  11. Tick the box ‘I have read, consented and agreed to First Sports Internationals Website Terms and Conditions, and I am of legal age.’
  12. Click ‘Create Web Site’ button (After 10 minutes, two buttons will appear – ‘View Website’ and ‘Edit Website’)
  13. Click ‘Edit Website’

The new website link will appear in a new tab

14. Please copy and paste this url to the individual assigned to the ENgage Website administrator role.

15. Request committee members to follow this guidance.

 

*To point your existing domain to this new website, you will need to complete our contact us form, including your ENA ID, league name, committee role within the league and your current league website URL. Once our team confirms this is completed, please enter your league URL into the ‘Club URL’ field on the Website Setup section of ENgage then return to step 11.

There are 2 roles that provide users the access to manage an ENgage league website.

(1) If an individual is allocated the Website Administrator committee role, they will gain full access to edit the ENgage league website. To find out how committee roles can be allocated, click here.

(2) If an individual is assigned as ‘Website Editor’ by someone with the appropriate access level to allocate roles, they will only have limited edit functions like adding news articles or match reports but will be unable to create new pages on the ENgage league website. For instructions on how to do this, please view this guidance.

To begin editing the website, please follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Click ‘Sign In’, located at the footer of the webpage
  3. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  4. There are 2 ways to edit the website. Certain widgets and content sections are editable from the ‘Preview’ or ‘Dashboard’ buttons. The ‘Dashboard’ button loads the main admin area of your league website. The ‘Preview’ button allows you to toggle between previewing the site and the functionality to edit content and widgets.

4a. To edit through the dashboard area, please follow these instructions:

  • Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  • Click on one of the sections allocated under ‘New’ on the left-hand side menu
  • Dependant on which section you have clicked, please view FAQ 7-16 for guidance created specifically for each section

To edit through the widgets, please view this guidance:

  1. Select ‘Preview’
  2. Where there is an ‘Edit Widget’ or ‘Edit content’ button located on the top right-hand corner, click this to update the widget that you wish to update.

Please note, some widgets can be hidden if no content is available for those sections e.g. if your league does not use the competition management functionality, you can hide the Fixtures, Latest Results and Match Reports sections.

Affiliate – This is where you can enter a new sponsor or partner to be displayed under the rolling banner, near the top of the homepage.

Gallery – Add photo albums of the competitions

Information Page – this will create new pages, under the following 3 main menu sections: About, Competitions, Info. These can hold anything from the history of the league to league documents

Match Report – This should include key events such as penalties, substitutes on and off the court, injuries, exciting periods of play and well executed moves.

News Article – E.g Include article regarding a competition that has taken place

Notifications – This can be used to notify your associated clubs e.g approaching deadlines

SharedDocument – This enables the website admin to add document links for download

Content – This section gives you the ability to manage the content that has been uploaded onto the site i.e edit, delete, unpublish

Design – In this section, you can change the colours of the site and any images (e.g. background images)

FSI Widgets – In this section you can edit the widgets

Media – Import and manage media uploads (images/photos)

Layouts – This advanced functionality can be achieved by individuals with extensive web developers skills, which allows you to create layouts for new pages you create

  • Teams

  • Key contacts
  • Events
  • Location

Within each editable section, different functions can be embedded into the article. For our most-used functions, please view the instructions below,

How to add a heading to an article

  1. Drag the ‘Heading h1-h6’ button located on the right-hand side menu into the green box that will appear
  2. Select which heading style from the multi-choice that you require (different ones have different text styles)
  3. In the ‘Text’ field, enter the title heading e.g U18 participation in Leicester
  4. Select ‘Save’

 

How to add text to an article

  1. Drag the ‘Text’ button located on the right-hand side menu into the green box that will appear
  2. Enter the article information
  3. Select ‘Save’

 

How to add HTML to an article

  1. Double click on ‘Please enter your page detail here’
  2. Select the </> button
  3. Enter the article information
  4. Click ‘Save’

 

How to add an image to an article

  1. Drag the ‘Image’ button located on the right-hand side menu into the green box that will appear
  2. Click ‘Add’
  3. If image is not in this library, continue to the next point, otherwise double click on the wanted image and proceed to the last point
  4. Select ‘Default Doc’
  5. Select ‘Import’
  6. Double click on ‘Click here, Drop files or Paste images’
  7. Select the required image
  8. Select ‘Close’
  9. Double click on the image
  10. Click ‘Save’

To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Affiliate’
  5. Enter into the title field the name of the sponsor
  6. Under Logo, Click ‘Add’
  7. If image is not in this library, continue to point 8, otherwise click on the wanted image and proceed to point 14
  8. Select ‘Default Doc’
  9. Select ‘Import’
  10. Double click on ‘Click here, Drop files or Paste images’
  11. Select the required image
  12. Select ‘Close’
  13. Select the image
  14. Select ‘Add’
  15. Click the relevant from the 2 drop-down lists
  16. Enter a valid url into the ‘URL’ section starting with https://
  17. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  18. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Gallery’
  5. Enter the album title e.g ‘018s Leicester Foxes V Nottingham Knights’
  6. Select ‘Add’
  7. Click ‘Default Doc’
  8. Select ‘Import’
  9. Double click on ‘Click here, Drop files or Paste images’
  10. Double click the image
  11. Repeat step 9 & 10 until all wanted images are collated on the screen
  12. Select ‘Close’
  13. Press the ‘Ctrl’ key on your keyboard whilst selecting all images wanted for this particular album
  14. Click ‘Add’
  15. Select ‘Save’

The website can only have new pages added under the heading About, Competitions, Info. This can be anything from the History of the Organisation, Organisation Documents etc. To add a information page, please follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Information page’
  5. Enter the title e.g. ‘History of Leicester Foxes Netball League’
  6. In the ‘Menu Group’ dropdown, select the location of where this webpage is displayed in the menu
  7. Select from the ‘Sort Order’ drop-down list (This control the order of the menu items)
  8. To add a heading/text/images, follow FAQ 6
  9. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  10. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

You can add match reports to fixtures that have been created in the ENgage competition management tool. If you do not use this functionality you will not be able to complete the process of adding a match report.

If you do, please follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Match Report’ page’
  5. Enter the title e.g. ‘Leicester Warriors NC win epic battle’
  6. Select from the Team dropdown, Season dropdown and Match dropdown lists.
  7. To add text about the match including key events in the order they happened and images, follow FAQ 6
  8. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  9. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘News Article’
  5. Enter the title e.g. ‘O18 athlete Chelsea Smith has been selected to play for the Vitality Roses’
  6. Select ‘Add’ if you require an image to be included in the background of the article
  7. Click the ‘Display in News’ tickbox if you want the article to be displayed in the News section. However, if you also want the article to be displayed on the homepage also, select the ‘Display in Notices’ tickbox
  8. Select todays date and time in the ‘Issue Date’ fields
  9. To add a heading/text/images, follow FAQ 6
  10. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  11. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Notification’
  5. Enter into the title and Notification Headline fields e.g. ‘Fridays competition cancelled due to adverse weather’
  6. Leave the permalink field blank as this auto-generates
  7. If you want the notification to be visible on the homepage, select the ‘Set as homepage’ tickbox
  8. Select ‘Disabled’ on the EnableHyperLink tickbox, if you want to prevent the notification from containing a hyperlink
  9. In the ‘Url’ field add a URL if you want the notification to link out to an external website
  10. Select the expiry date of the notification in the ‘ValidTo’ fields
  11. To add content, follow FAQ 6
  12. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  13. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘SharedDocument’
  5. Select from the
  6. Enter into the Document Display Name field
  7. In the ‘Document Summary’ field, add a summary corresponding to the document
  8. Select the priority from the ‘Sort priority’ drop-down list
  9. Click ‘Add’ under either Icon Image or Local Document Media Item (dependent whether you wish to share an document or an image)
  10. If doc/image is not in this library, continue to point 11, otherwise double click on the wanted image and proceed to point 17
  11. Select ‘Default Doc’
  12. Select ‘Import’
  13. Double click on ‘Click here, Drop files or Paste images’
  14. Select the required image
  15. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  16. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage
  17. Select ‘Close’
  18. Select the image
  19. Select ‘Add’
  20. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  21. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

The league website administrator can edit and change the colours that will personalise the site by following these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select ‘Dashboard’
  4. Select ‘Design’
  5. Click the boxes in the ‘Value’ column to select the wanted colours
  6. Scroll to the bottom and select ‘Save’

  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Content’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. Adjacent to the article name, select ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’
  6. If you selected ‘Edit’, once the article is amended, select ‘Publish Now’

Please follow this guidance:

  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Fsi Widgets’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. The description column stipulates what webpages each widget will appear on. If you scroll your mouse onto a row, the right-hand side layout displays the position of each widget within a page.
  6. Click ‘Save’
  7. In the ‘Publish’ column, un-tick the box(es) of the widgets that you wish to remove from the website

By default, the Facebook feed is set to England Netball’s Facebook page. To change it to display yours, please follow this guidance:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Fsi Widgets’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. In the first column, double click on the ‘Facebook – FacebookFeed’ button
  6. Enter your league into the ‘FacebookName’ field
  7. Click ‘Save

By default, the Twitter feed is set to England Netball’s Twitter account. To change it to display your league account, please follow this guidance:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Fsi Widgets’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. In the first column, double click on the ‘Twitter – TwitterFeed’ button
  6. Enter your Netball league Twitter account into the ‘Username’ field
  7. Click ‘Save’

You can add a logo that will personalise the website by following these instructions:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Design’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. Select the ‘Logo’ tab
  6. Select ‘Choose File’
  7. Select the image from your documents
  8. Click ‘Upload’
  9. Click ‘Save’

  5. Enter the title e.g. ‘Welcome to Leicestershire League’
  6. Select ‘Add’ to include the image you would like
  7. Un-click the ‘General News’ tickbox
  8. Select the ‘Featured News’ tickbox
  9. Select todays date and time in the ‘Issue Date’ fields
  10. Select ‘Save’ at the bottom of the webpage
  11. Select ‘Publish Now’ at the bottom of the webpage

The existing layout within the standard template should be sufficient for most user’s requirements. However, there is a ‘Layout’ section whereby more advanced users of website CMS can develop their own webpage layouts.

Please note, due to complexity, this function will only be able to be utilised by those with web development skills. England Netball are unable to provide any further guidance or support in this area.

To get you started in this area, please follow this guidance:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select the ‘Dashboard’ button at the top left-hand menu
  4. Click ‘Layouts’ on the left-hand side menu
  5. Select the appropriate from the drop-down lists
  6. Select ‘Create new Layout’
  7. In the ‘Title’ field, enter a layout name
  8. Add the features that are required e.g. heading/image/text by dragging the content from the right-hand side to the ‘Layout’ area
  9. Click ‘Save’

To change the placement of the embedded aspects within a article, click the up or down arrow that is located above each embedded aspect.

In reference to the below image, the following explains the ability to edit different parts of the website:

Sections highlighted in yellow must be changed or added in ENgage, whereby, these changes will reflect on the league website.

Sections highlighted in red are standard England Netball areas that cannot be changed.

Any other areas are edited directly from the ‘Dashboard’ section of the league website.

This can be rectified by changing your preferences, as follows:

  1. Paste the ENgage league website url into your browser (The one that the committee member sent you)
  2. Enter your ENgage login credentials in the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields
  3. Select ‘Dashdboard’
  4. Select ‘Teams’
  5. Under the player list column, select ‘Assigned’ in each drop-down list
  6. Scroll to the bottom and select ‘Save’

Here are a few terms that you will come across when reading through this guide and developing your website:

CMS – Content Management System – this is the industry term for the back end administration system for a website

Dashboard – Area of the website administration which provides full administration access to all available functions

ENgage – The netball administration system which auto-populates some of the content of the website

Gallery – Area displaying images

HTML – the language that creates webpages, it is a code that the website reads, translates and displays (you don’t need to know this coding to create your website, it’s very simple!)

Preview – Area of the website administration which allows you to preview the site and make simple content changes

Rendered – This means where something is made visible on the website

Toggle – switching between one setting to another

Widget – This is a functionality that appears within the website template

The main menu will have the following pages, as default:

Home – This page can consist of snippets including news articles, social media feeds, photos and sponsor images
News – This can include featured news (Please view FAQ 11 for guidance on publishing)
About – Those assigned to league Committee Roles in ENgage are displayed and the league info is listed (primary contact, address of organisation and map)
Events – (This functionality is not available yet)
Gallery – This is where any photos that are added will be displayed (Please view FAQ 8 for setup)
Info – This is where you can create Information pages i.e. History of organisation, shop (added link) etc.

Domain Name

Your ENgage website will have a unique URL e.g. https://www.netballleague.firstsports.club/. However, each league can use their own domain name or transfer an existing domain name. e.g. https://www.netballleague.com

 

Domain Name Registration

If you want to point your existing domain to this new website, you will need to complete our contact us form, including your ENA ID, league name, committee role within the league and your current league website URL.

The ‘Save’ button saves to draft, which can be previewed using the preview link in the content item list on the admin dashboard. Whereas ‘Publish now’ saves any change and publishes them onto the website.
