England U17 rounded off a successful opening day at the Netball Europe U17 Championship with a 96-19 victory over Northern Ireland.

Despite a resounding 22–89 win against Scotland to start the competition, the young Roses refused to be complacent going into the second match.

Victoria Burgess made a few changes to the starting seven from England’s opener and the strength in depth of the squad was clear to see as her side laid down a marker by posting their highest tally in any quarter of the competition to date to lead 24-7 at the end of the first quarter.

However, that record was beaten with an immense second-quarter display, in which England scored 26 goals and restricted Northern Ireland to just one.

Mixing up the team out on court, all 12 England players once again got a run out and gained further valuable experience on the international stage.

Momentum remained with England throughout the second half and they professionally saw out the match, coming close to notching up a century of goals, to make it two from two.

Next up, the young Roses take on Switzerland in their third match of the competition on Saturday evening (17:00).

Score updates at the end of each quarter will be available to view on the results tab of the Academy fixtures page.
