Clan crowned 2016 16-19 Netball Open Champions

The 16-19 Netball Open took over Redbridge Sports Centre, Barkingside on Saturday with teams all over the country vying to be crowned 2016 champions.

After a brilliant day of netball, the final stage of the tournament was split in to three separare competitions – the Cup, Challenge Cup and the Plate.

The main Cup competition was won by Clan Red as they were victorious in all of their five games in the final stage, including beating the 2015 champions Weston Park Blades 8-4.

Weston Park Blades took home the silver medal with Turnford taking a bronze in third place.

The Challenge Cup was won by Telstars who also had a great run of form, winning all their matches and the Plate competition was won by Brigg who surprised the pack to take home four convincing wins.

Not only did the teams enjoy a great day of netball, they also got to meet and ask an England international questions!

England and Hertfordshire Mavericks defender Lindsay Keable attended the day and carried out a Q&A session with some of the teams as well as handing out the medals at the end of a fabulous day’s competition with Pat Meadows.

England Netball would like to congratulate all teams for playing with fantastic spirit and making the 2016 16-19 Netball Open a wonderful success.
