Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex attend the Coach Core Awards held at Loughborough University on September 24, 2018

On this day in 2018, the Duchess of Sussex teamed up with Commonwealth Games champion Eboni Usoro-Brown on the netball court.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were visiting Loughborough University – the home of the Vitality Roses – to celebrate the achievements of the We Are Coach Core 2018 Graduates and couldn’t resist taking part in a spot of healthy competition.

In the end, the Duke of Sussex led his team to a 3-2 victory over the Duchess’ side, which included Usoro-Brown.

The England defender was delighted to be involved in the day and that netball was the sport selected to showcase.

She said: “It was an honour to be on the Duchess of Sussex’s team as a We Are Coach Core Ambassador in the netball shootout and to see her delight in our wonderful sport!

“The fact that netball was the sport chosen to be showcased illustrates its growing popularity within the UK.”

The Royal visit meant that netball once again hit the headlines across the country with photos on the front of several national newspapers and features in publications including Hello!, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar.
