Happy Friday Coaches!

Today we just wanted to share a little something from the Coaching department. If you think back to September 2015 the support provided by England Netball was very different to what it is today. This is largely down to the Coaching Manager, Katy Ritchie. Who has been the driving force behind a whole host of changes that the Coaching department has made since December 2014…

  • We now acknowledge that you can be a specialist in different areas of coaching –and we are tailoring the support we provide to you based on the research around this.

  • We have considered how to make coach development easier for you, who already leads a busy lifestyle, by creating online resources in the form of videos, downloadable documents, webinars and podcasts.
  • We have launched a host of communication channels to talk all things coaching, from Facebook F (2)and TwitterT to blog posts Band podcasts.S The content of which is entirely focused on what we can do to support you, the coach.
  • We have developed an entire package to support Key Stage 3 teachers; videos, resources and a workshop which is underway.

  • We have changed our approach to training, creating a brand new model for developing those that facilitate Netball in the form of Walking Netball Hosts.

And a few more things behind the scenes!! We are sure that you would agree that Katy has made an incredible impact on Netball Coach Development in the country.

If you have ever been so lucky to meet Katy, you would also know that she has done all this with a smile on her face and with more passion that anyone you have ever met. So today we say Good-bye to Katy as she leaves England Netball, and this is our thank you to her. We have said good bye internally all week and it has been emotional, but we want to share with you, the coaches that Katy has been providing such great support for, our thank you to her. Thank you Katy.

Don’t worry though, Katy’s enthusiasm and passion still remains within the coaching department and we have the drive to continue to develop the support we provide at England Netball. Keep your eyes peeled on the blog next week as we ramp back up the support as the season gets underway!
