Give your volunteers a chance to shine!

Now we’ve had the whole of volunteer month to have a think about just how much our volunteers do for netball, how about nominating them for the BBC Unsung Hero Award?!

You can read the full BBC press release below:

Do you know a volunteer who deserves recognition for their tireless efforts in helping people to participate in sport? Well now’s your chance to give them their time to shine by nominating them for the BBC Get Inspired Unsung Hero Award 2016.

Each of the 15 BBC nations and regions will select a winner to be put forward to the final judging panel. All the finalists will receive a trip for themselves +1 to the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Birmingham on 18th December and to talk down the red carpet as well as having the chance to be the overall winner and receive the award on stage on the night – which is one of the highlights of the event.

The BBC also wants to hear stories of those who exemplify what sports organisations want from volunteers – showing the breadth and range of roles that volunteers do and who they are, from the parent who stayed on long after their child left the club to those who’s volunteering has impact far beyond the sport or venue.

In partnership with Be Inspired we will once again be running the #bigthankyou campaign, to recognise and say thank you to people who volunteer and without whom, Sport in the UK would not function. We ask you to ask your teams, clubs, coaches and venues to use #bigthankyou on the 18th December to help create one big moment where volunteers celebrated.

This year, on the night of SPOTY, a few lucky nominees will receive a personal phone call from a sport star on the red carpet to say ‘thank-you.’
