Trained Identifiers

In order for the performance pathway to be successful, we must ensure that the right athletes are selected into the system. This requires a workforce of Trained Identifiers, (predominantly teachers and club coaches), who are educated and equipped with the right skill set and experiences to seek and identify the range of attributes and characteristics we are looking for in our athletes at Satellite, County and Regional level.

We also need a team of scouts and selectors that are capable of selecting the athletes into the pathway that we believe have the potential to not only progress up through the system, but also develop into a world class netballer with the ability to form part of a squad capable of winning a World Cup. England Netball has developed two resources/workshops in order to support this work:

1. Trained Identifiers: Identifying players using a game-centred approach.

A free online video resource is available to help club coaches and teachers identify the range of attributes and characteristics we are looking for in the England Performance Pathway when nominating players to attend Satellite or County Academy screening events. For more information and to watch the video, please visit: http://scouting.englandnetball.co.uk/

2. Scouting workshop:

Scouts are responsible for seeking and identifying potential athletes for the Performance Pathway. This workshop seeks to train new and existing scouts. For information on a workshop running in your area, please contact your Regional Coordinator.

If you are a teacher or club coach and you feel there are players at your school or club who demonstrate the range of attributes and characteristics in our online video, please contact your County Netball Association for information on local screening events.
