Funding Sources

The funding landscape for netball facility development projects is ever changing and challenging. Here are some ideas for getting started and staying in touch with the latest news…

As part of the Planning Process, Council’s ask housing developers to pay towards the costs of new or improved recreation facilities such as netball / tennis courts, multi use games areas and play areas.

Decisions on how developer contributions are spent varies from Council to Council. Some provide a grant aid scheme for community organisations to apply to, others are determined strategically allocated in accordance with the Playing Pitch Strategy or Built Facility Strategy for the area.

The Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) is a tax credit scheme enabling operators of landfill sites to contribute money to organisations enrolled with ENTRUST as Environmental Bodies (EBs).

In turn EBs are keen to fund community projects that help to improve open spaces, recreation grounds and sports facilities near landfill sites.

With a good business case and evidence of demand for a new or improved sports facility, it may be possible to seek private finance options to help with the capital costs of building or refurbishing your facility and repaying over a set number of years. Here are a couple of companies who can offer assistance in this area.

  • Notts Sport – their ‘Fast Track Funding’ scheme is a simple, quick, and easy financing solution which is available to any facility operator in any sector, including education. An example facility that has been financed with assistance from this route is The Herts & Essex School Sports Centre. For further information about Fast Track Funding, click here.
  • S & C Slatter – offer a range of sports pitch finance and facility funding solutions through an exclusive partnership with Buckingham Leasing. For further information about this option, click here.
