Players selected for Roses Academy long squad

Harriet Jones, Silvia McCarthy and Sophie Kelly have been selected for the England Roses Academy programme in 2019/20.

The potential of all three athletes was identified at the recent U15 Netball Performance Competition held at Wolverhampton University.

Jones (GA/GS) and McCarthy (GK/GD) impressed for Manchester Thunder as they took the title, while Kelly (GA/GS) stood out for runners-up Surrey Storm.

They were subsequently invited into the first camp of the new season in Loughborough to be viewed by selectors.

Here they all demonstrated their potential in the training environment and the selectors have decided that they have been successful in being selected into the Academy.

Roses Academy Head Coach Sheonah Forbes commented: “It’s great to see athletes getting an opportunity from the U15 tournament to gain experience from our Roses Academy Camps.

“Congratulations to those who have been offered a full-time place!”

Jones, McCarthy and Kelly will now join the 32 athletes selected into the programme back in August.
