The search for our new Performance Director begins

We are delighted to announce that we have begun our search for a world class Performance Director to lead netball into a new era.

The recruitment of someone to take on this vital role within the organisation comes after former Performance Director Sara Symington, who played a pivotal part in the Vitality Roses’ journey to gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, announced her recent move to British Athletics.

In this new chapter, we hope to bring in someone with experience of working in the high performance sport sector, who can continue to build on the sport’s recent success, working closely with Vitality Netball Superleague coaches and Vitality Roses Head Coach Jess Thirlby, amongst other key people within the sport.

Throughout this time we will be exploring candidates across the globe for this key position.

Fran Connolly, CEO of England Netball, said: “We were of course disappointed to see Sara leave England Netball after five hugely successful years with us. Since joining, she played a pivotal role in the growth and history making success of the Vitality Roses and our wider Performance Team. She led the way on implementing the first full-time Vitality Roses programme, which sparked a huge transformation of the netball landscape in this country. We’re looking forward though to seeing the wonderful work Sara will do with British Athletics.

“I’m delighted for us now to begin the search for someone to take on the exciting role of Performance Director. Netball has been on an exceptional journey over recent years following the Vitality Roses’ success at the Commonwealth Games and the iconic home Netball World Cup, the chosen candidate will be a part of our continued growth and will help to empower athletes and staff within our programmes for years to come.

“We hope someone with vision and a track record of leading a world class performance team will join our ranks and help us to make netball the best it can be in this country.”

Dawn Brown of Positive Dynamics will be working with us to identify the right candidate to be our next Performance Director. Dawn has worked with governing bodies and UK Sport since 2006, and has specific expertise recruiting in the high performance sport arena.
