Vitality Roses set for second half of Super Netball season

Round Eight signals the second half of the 2020 Super Netball regular season for the Vitality Roses.

Up first, there’s a top of the table clash as Melbourne Vixens face NSW Swifts (Helen Housby and Natalie Haythornthwaite).

A superb fourth quarter effort from NSW secured them a 61-54 win over Sunshine Coast Lightning in Round Seven and cemented their place in the top two.

The two sides last met in the 2019 Preliminary Final, where Swifts ran out 60-47 winners.

Saturday’s second game sees Vitality Roses Geva Mentor (Collingwood Magpies) and Jo Harten (GIANTS Netball) go head to head.

GIANTS came out on top in both 2019 meetings (56-63 and 58-50) and will be looking to build on their narrow Round Seven victory over Queensland Firebirds.

Magpies, meanwhile, are searching for their second win of the season. Their only victory to date this campaign came in Round Three (54-58 vs. Queensland Firebirds).

Adelaide Thunderbirds (Chelsea Pitman, Layla Guscoth and Kate Shimmin) will be looking to break back into the top four on Sunday when they take on Queensland Firebirds.

Thunderbirds led for most of the match against Vixens in Round Seven before the league leaders broke away in the fourth quarter to take the win.

West Coast Fever will be determined to hold onto their top four spot after overtaking Thunderbirds thanks to their 71-57 victory over Magpies.

Stacey Francis’ side play third-place Sunshine Coast Lightning, who they haven’t beaten since Round 10 of the 2018 season (59-58).
